What do you do in your day-to-day job?

  • oversee the drainage team to ensure smooth operations, including the accuracy of search data and quality control of reports. I actively engage in daily quality checks to maintain high standards.
  • monitor the turnaround time for drainage searches, ensuring they meet the required deadlines and align with client expectations.
  • address and resolve queries and requests from clients and waterboards in a prompt and efficient manner, ensuring timely responses and effective solutions.
  • generate and analyze weekly team performance reports, keeping track of key metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
  • conduct regular objective reviews and performance evaluations throughout the year to stay updated on employee development and ensure team alignment with company goals.
  • collaborate with the accounting team to approve invoices for manually ordered searches, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
  • ensure that new hires and trainees adhere to established training plans and that they receive proper guidance during their onboarding process.
  • monitor underperforming team members, developing and implementing improvement plans to help them get back on track.

How have you progressed in your role since joining?

I began my journey with the company as full-time typist in the drainage team focusing on generating drainage reports, within a year I was promoted to a senior where I started to take on additional responsibilities such as quality checking reports and training new hires, after that, I advanced to the position of deputy team leader, where I was involved in team coordination and managing daily tasks. Most recently, I became the team leader, overseeing the entire drainage team and ensuring operational efficiency.

Throughout my career progression, I’ve developed a range of skills, from mastering advanced typing techniques to learning how to effectively lead a team. As I moved into leadership positions, I honed my communication and problem-solving skills, enabling me to manage team dynamics and resolve client queries efficiently.

What do I do outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m really into football. I play in a local amateur league on weekends, which is a fantastic way to stay active and connect with friends. I also enjoy watching football games, especially when my favourite team Liverpool is playing. It’s a great way to relax.

Besides football, I have a strong passion for music. I play Piano and enjoy recording my own music at home.
