The Spatial Team manage and are responsible for the delivery of location services to internal and external customers. We maintain and publish both map and address related data encompassing England, Scotland & Wales. These datasets enable identification to property level throughout the geographic extent previously mentioned.

Location identity is a fundamental component of tmgroup conveyancing services as it enables service users to identify potential hazards relating to a property location. These services enable Consumers to make informed decisions, about a defined location, based on known “risk”, such as “flood”, in near real time.
My Team utilise several IT Technologies to deliver these services through both commercial “of the shelf” licensed software alongside Open Source community lead spatial tools.

My role involves technical architecture and oversight of spatial projects working closely with our agile development team to deliver relevant solutions to today’s Land & Property Sector. Often, I am liaising with Third Party suppliers of Spatial Data and related Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) and reviewing and acting as Custodian for any Third-Party Licence Terms & Conditions, ensuring tmgroup is always compliant.

The best part of my role is being a paper and digital “map” fanatic! I’m like a kid in a sweet shop as having access to nation-wide mapping data, at various map scales, with tools to analyse, derive and innovate the next generation of location services really excites me!

I believe by applying these new derived dataset and location services to tmgroup application offerings is innovative, it adds value and unique selling points for our Client base.

Why do you like working at tmgroup?

I’ve been here 23 years now and I love working with independent thinkers, always having an ability to share opinions, and continually striving to push the boundaries of what is possible with the information and spatial technology stack available.
There is a great variety of activities in day to day operations, no one day is the same, there are always fresh challenges to be overcome as Information Technology changes at such a pace.

What do I do outside of work?

Outside of work diversions include collecting maps! walking, cycling (usually challenges in completing recognised national routes), photography and generally any other outdoor pursuit which involves friends and especially quality time with my family.
